Creative Inspiration

Keeping up with a blog is like a second job.  A job that... I haven't been very good at lately.  I like my second job but I guess you could say I keep forgetting to go to work.

Well.... I'm going to get better at it.  I spend time on the computer being inspired by life, art and the beauty of the world.  I use this inspiration to get me moving in the studio sometimes and other times it is to ground me or cause me pause to connect.  So, I'm going to share what inspires me and what comes out of the inspiration and try to be more frequent in doing so.  Hope you enjoy!

Today I stumbled upon a picture on Pinterest which caused me to go deeper in research of this beautiful African tribe who not only create with clay but truly live with it and in it!  So beautiful and inspiring.

Art enables us to find ourselves

and lose ourselves at the same time.

The Mousgoum is an ethnic group in far north province in Cameroon
that creates their homes from compressed sun-dried mud.

The tall conical dwellings, in the shape of a shell features geometric raised patterns.
The decorative surface allows for further refinement and individualization.

The veins also contribute to the drainage of rain. The musgum houses require regular maintenance of the coating and the veins allow people to climb atop the building.
